A bit of history

A unique past

A Mannerist tenement house from around 1640, built on Gothic basement walls from the 15th century, is located under the front bay of the building. It is a large, 4-axis building, constituting one of the best examples of a Northern European Mannerist tenement house in the Dutch style. It is characterized by an unusual, dark façade and a decorative gable with a tail ornament, which replaced the ironwork ornament. The gable is crowned with the form of a royal crown, associated with the 17th-century Vasa dynasty. The tenement house served a residential function from the beginning.
